In the input learning system, students are provided with comprehensive contents. There are plethora of colorful pictures, graphics and illustrations in the contents. These would make learning fun and interesting. The learning materials are designed based on the accepted instructional design principles and learning theories. There are also links that would bring students to other selected Internet resources. In this way, students can learn in greater details and obtained different perspectives of the subject
The main feature of input learning system is the i-Learning. It is an avatar with human character and with high degree of realism. The i-Learning can be made to pop-up in a different window or can be hidden when not required. The capabilities of the i-Learning is that it can provide instantaneous feedback to all questions posted to them. The feedback is designed based on the common questions posed by students in the classroom. In this way, i-Learning acts as a virtual teacher to the students and enable students to feel the actual learning environment with virtual teacher always on the students’ side to assist them in their learning activities and available anytime when required.
Power point presentation is the summary presentation of a topic with a chapter. It summarizes the entire topic in an animated presented with audio narration. The presentation stresses on the important concept, issues and idea of the whole topics.
Such presentations provide students with the summary of knowledge to achieve the stipulated learning objectives of that particular topic. Its function is analogous to the presentation of teachers in the class room. But unlike the presentation by teacher in the classroom, these presentations can be repeated many times until the students truly understand the concept learned. In total there are 886 power point presentations and on average, each presentation consists of 10-15 slides with the duration of presentation between 20-30 minutes.
The animations were developed specifically as effective learning objects for science subjects. With these animations, students can interact with the learning objects and control the variables themselves and observe the different processes/phenomena occurring when the variables are manipulated. In this way, students have the hand-on experiences and enable them to immerse into the experiment just like in the actual environment in the real world. These immersive animations help to enhance students’ understanding of scientific concepts. At the same time. links to external animations are also provided so that students have the access to specially selected animations to further deepened their understandings.
The quizzes are provided at the end of the topics as self-assessments for the students. It consisted of large number of questions pertain to the particular topics with the aims of providing indications as to how much students have learned. The students can repeat the quizzes as many times as they like and there will be different sets of questions for each session. The quizzes provide automatic scores and feedback as to how to arrive at the solutions. In this way, students will learn on the mistakes they made and made appropriate improvements.
For some of the subjects, there are interactive contents made available to the students. The interactive contents include ‘Drag and Drop”, “Matching”, “Hot Spot”, “Brain Teaser”, etc. The interactive contents provide new learning experiences to students and enhancing their understanding of the subject matter.
